All Kindergarten students in Hamblen County School Systems recently attended Farm Day.

The students enjoyed learning about farm animals. They watched a sheep being sheared and many other farmlife activities.

Fairview "Living Museum"

Fairview Marguerite’s 5th grade students conducted a “Living Museum” recently.

Students chose a person from history, researched them, wrote a speech, memorized that speech, then dressed and portrayed that person.

Parents, students and teachers were instructed to push a button located on the characters hand, then watch them as they came to life.

West Elementary-Heather Godwin's Class

Mrs. Godwin’s class at West Elementary recently compared and contrasted the plays, Junie B. Jones and a Little Monkey Business, and Suessical the Musical.

They used a double bubble map to list the differences and similarities of the plays.

West Elementary's 5th Grade Blasts Off!

West Elementary’s 5th grade recently created water rockets from cardboard and plastic bottles. This activity was in conjunction with their recent studies on matter and mass and how matter takes up space.

The students enjoyed blasting these rockets into the air using water and compressed air as fuel.

Support Staff of the Year 2007-2008

Hamblen County Department of Education announces the Support Staff of the Year for 2007-2008.

These staff members were nominated by someone at their school or department. The winners were chosen by out-of -county volunteers.

Congratulations to all of these great employees, including all of the nominated as well.
